Delayed Thanksgiving

Things to be thankful for:
·         Yummy food
·         Laughter
·         Old pictures
·         Pens
·         Mechanical pencils
·         Music
·         Skype
·         Family and friends
·         Hipsters
·         Reddit
·         Money on your bus card
·         Saldo (money on your cell phone)
·         Water
·         Pjs
·         Good books
·         Love
·         Pillow pets
·         Language

Every year at Thanksgiving, we all have the urge to write, post, blog, tweet, etc. about things we’re thankful for. And sure, I think it’s great. But what good does it do to tell you Facebook friends how thankful you are for your *insert something here*? Sure it gives us a warm feeling inside to tell the whole world how thankful we are for our mom, favorite book, warm bed…  But why do we feel this is enough? Are we actually in anyway repaying this person/thing for everything he/it has done for us? I’m not one to undermine the power of words, but in the case I think actions are much louder. Instead of telling your 500 followers how much you’re thankful for your mom, do something for her instead. Surprise her with a visit or phone call. Send your grandmother a card. Give your best friend some chocolate or even just a hug.
The power of words is immense. The right words in the right order can change the world. But only because they force action. So go ahead, tweet about how thankful you are, but do something about it as well. It’ll be worth it. Promise.
P.S. You can be thankful anytime. Not just at Thanksgiving.
